Catching Some Rays

Since I work with Asian Small-Clawed River Otters, I forget how HUGE the North American River Otters are in comparison. I think there was a group of two in this enclosure, but this was the only one active.

One of my favorite moments was when this one (I'm assuming a male) grabbed a bunch of leaves and tried to shove it into his den with (I'm assuming) the female. Very unimpressed with his gift, she quickly threw them out of their den. It was adorable!

 North American river otters can swim up to 7 mph.
